Windows and doors are key points of heat loss in winter and heat gain in summer. This can be mitigated by specifying energy-efficient windows and doors that use double-glazing or low-e glass, or framing materials and construction methods that limit thermal conductivity, such as high-performance aluminium windows. Louvre windows also conserve energy by generating cross-breezes for passive cooling.
