A solid 'block' for students with Uni-Base Board lightweight cladding

| Uni-Base Board panels and aluminium channels give this development a solid blockwork look. | Uni-Base Board™ lightweight cladding features on the new Kingsbury Gardens Apartments, which are part of the award-winning Springthorpe Estate. Just minutes to LaTrobe University in Melbourne’s north, the development is sure to be a future hive of activity for students.
Central to the site is an existing Art Deco residential block, which was built around 1920. Surrounding and inter-connecting with the impressive period structure are a series of brand new one and two bedroom apartments. As with all student housing, cost effectiveness and durability are the key. As a bonus Uni-Base Board also offered developers, Drive Projects, unsurpassed external insulation when compared to brick or blockwork.
Construction of the external insulation cladding, installed by Multi-applicators (Vic) Pty Ltd, was unique as each of the standard size 2400 mm x 1200 mm panels were fitted into aluminium channels. A specially formulated low build render was applied and finished with a cement coloured smooth texture, leaving the highlight channels exposed. Manufactured by Unitex®, Uni-Base Board gives these apartments a solid blockwork look at a fraction of the cost. |
