Designbuild Perth so successful it will be an annual event

Designbuild, Australasia’s largest building and design expo held at the Perth Convention Exhibition Centre 12 - 14 October was a ‘resounding success’, according to organisers, Diversified Exhibitions Australia.
Staged in Perth for the first time, Designbuild featured 120 exhibitors and attracted 2,550 trade visitors with the Perth Convention Exhibition Centre becoming a ‘who’s who’ of the W.A. building, construction and design industries for three days.
Exhibition Director, Bill Hare said, “We were blown away by the response to the event – so much so that we are pleased to announce Designbuild Perth will be a permanent fixture on the calendar and will be held again next year from the 17th to 19th October 2008.
Official Opening
Designbuild Perth 07 was officially opened on Friday morning before an audience of 150 industry leaders by The Hon. Michelle Roberts, MLA Minister for Employment Protection: Housing and Works; Indigenous Affairs; Heritage and Land Information.
Green Building Seminars
Designbuild was host to a series of Green Building Seminars held in conjunction with the Green Building Council of Australia, The Master Builders Association, Australian Tile Council, Institute of Plumbing, CEDIA and the Building Designers Association.
These seminars were attended by an impressive 282 visitors who paid to attend one or more sessions with presentations from leading-edge practitioners of environmentally sustainable architecture, design, building and construction.
Associated Industry Seminars
In addition to the Green Building Seminars, industry seminars and conferences were run in conjunction with the show including the Master Builders Association – ‘Breakfast briefing’ and ‘Next step training’ seminars; the Institute of Plumbing hosted the Australian National Plumbing Forum ‘Water – Use it, reuse it or lose it’, the Master Plumbers & Gas Fitters Association ‘5 star plus seminars’ and the National Precast Concrete Association seminar ‘Efficient design of industrial buildings using pre-cast’.

Best Stand Awards
The Best Stand Awards, judged by members of the Exhibition Event Association of Australasia were presented before an enthusiastic audience of exhibitors and media.
The winner of the Best Shell Scheme was Style Limited who featured clever use of their flooring made from renewable strand-woven bamboo.
BAT Trims were winners of the Best Stand Free Design by presenting a shining example of how a stand can effectively display a broad range of products including tiling machinery and accessories.

Designbuild Perth was endorsed by Australian Tile Council , Building Designers Association WA ,CEDIA, Green Building Council of Australia, Institute of Plumbing, Master Builders Association, Master Plumbers & Gas Fitters Association of WA and National Precast Concrete Association of Australia.
“We set out to provide a forum and showcase to service the needs of the building industry in Western Australia. We have achieved that and now in partnership with associations such as the Master Builders and Master Plumbers our challenge is to make the show even better next year”, said Bill Hare.
Designbuild Perth 2008 will be held 17 -19 October at the Perth Convention Exhibition Centre.
