Company Profile
Viridian was created through CSR's acquisition and merger of Pilkington Australia and New Zealand and DMS Glass. Building upon the considerable resources and heritage of the two companies, Viridian is well placed to lead the industry in the manufacturing and supply of energy-efficient and sustainable glazing systems. Viridian offers the latest in cutting-edge technology that allows architects and designers to use glass in extraordinary ways.
Viridian supplies glass for both commercial and residential purposes and has a product to suit every need. Products are categorised by their primary application so that it is easy to find and compare products: core products, energy, noise, decoration, fire protection, structural, storm and security.
Viridian operates two float plants and one DecorPattern glass plant in Australia, along with its Australia and New Zealand distribution networks.
Viridian's largest plant, located in Dandenong Victoria, is currently undergoing a $120 million upgrade including a $30 million dollar grant from the Victorian Government. The upgrade features the installation of a CVD coater to produce energy-efficient low-e glass and when completed in 2009 will make Viridian the sole manufacturer of CVD coated float glass in the southern hemisphere.
Viridian is committed to offering a range of products that provide solutions to energy management. Viridian is a member of the Green Building Council of Australia and has implemented initiatives to assist in meeting their 'Target of Zero Waste'. Viridian has already been certified to Environmental Standard ISO 14001, exceeding EPA standards, and is the first manufacturer to enter into a covenant. DecorPattern glass uses over 95% recycled glass content and Viridian Float glass has a recycled content of 29%.
