Unitex® started business in 1983 and was founded when two expert, solid plasterers joined forces with an experienced, industrial polymer chemist. The latter also brought development and manufacturing experience, both in Australia and overseas, to the partnership. So from the beginning we have had a strong technology base, yet at the same time, a very practical focus. The resultant union of practical skills and technological knowledge has given rise to Australia's most innovative manufacturer of lightweight, protective and decorative building products for the architectural and construction industry.
The principals of Unitex have a combined experience of more than fifty years in the manufacture and application of Unitex products. Our management teams for Production and Technical Sales boasts a total experience of four times that. This know-how assures customers of first-class quality and service with every purchase from the Unitex range.
The Unitex range is divided into three complimentary product portfolios:
- Unitex Renders & Finishes - which includes a range of lightweight dry powder renders and finishes (100% active products - just add water on-site) and a range of wet textured finishes (ready-to-use, ranging from very coarse to very fine textures, including marble finishes);
- Uni-Shape Mouldings & Columns - lightweight and strong facade mouldings and architectural columns (a wide range of ex-stock products as well as custom made designs); and
- Uni-TWS (Thermal Wall System) - the leading external wall insulation system. Fully tested by the CSIRO†, Uni-TWS offers a cost-effective, thermally efficient and lightweight alternative wall cladding system.
We use high-quality raw materials to ensure our customers are delivered a consistent, high-quality product. Our company's programme of continuous raw material evaluation ensures that we use the most cost-effective, proven and best ingredients to provide our customers with fair-priced end products. Where possible, and without ever compromising the high quality of product our customers expect and deserve, we incorporate recycled raw materials. This helps us do our part for the environment.
Our Research & Development team are continuously challenging convention. Developing smarter ways of working and innovative new products with increased customer benefits as the defining focus. Supporting this continuous improvement programme is our dedication to service. We take great pride in successful customer-driven service systems.
Unitex holds a number of patents, both granted and pending, in Australia and internationally. We are continually developing not only new products, but also novel application methods. Customer application of our products is as important to us as the products themselves. For example, we introduced machine spraying of powder-based renders into Australia. This process greatly speeds up broad wall application of powder-based renders and finishes. Thus the coverage rate for applicators is enhanced and allows them to be more competitive in the marketplace.
