Jetmaster Fireplaces was established in Australia in 1980. It is an Australian family owned and run business started by Sam Belnick. The Jetmaster firebox was designed in South Africa in 1950 by Glynn Jones to improve the efficiency and guarantee no fumes into the home from an open fire. The unique double skinned convection heating design while greatly improving the open fire did not compromise the aesthetics, therefore appealing to Australian builders and architects who desperately needed a product to satisfy consumer demand. The art of building a fireplace in Australia had all but disappeared and proved costly. The only open fire products available on the market did not manage to heat a home and very often smoked into the room. The Jetmaster managed to solve all these concerns.
The business grew rapidly through word of mouth and a number of retail showrooms were established nationally to service all States.
In 1985 the first gas coal burner was developed by Jetmaster and this allowed the firebox to be utilised for both gas and solid fuel. In recent years the gas market has grown and Jetmaster has increased its gas product range dramatically approving more efficient and aesthetically appealing gas coals and logs. In 1991 they introduced the first balance flue gas log in Australia, imported from Heat-N-Glo in the USA. This product has revolutionised the fireplace market as it does not require a traditional vertical flue and can be terminated horizontally. This has allowed gas fireplaces to be installed in locations which would otherwise have been impossible to install in the past such as apartments, hotels, etc.
Jetmaster has been servicing major builders and architects since its early beginnings supplying builders such as A.V. Jennings and being incorporated in major Hotel projects such as Cypress Lakes in the Hunter Valley and Park Hyatt Hotel in Melbourne.
