Fisher & Paykel has introduced a futuristic new cook surface codenamed Project Luna – a frameless piece of 900 mm by 410 mm black glass supporting three individual gas burners.

The product is unique – its gas burners rise and retract from the black glass surface. When not in use, the pan supports and burners hide beneath, but a simple touch of the control and the appliance awakens, with the pan supports and burners rising into view. A turn of the dial and the burner instantly ignites the gas, ready for cooking.

Gas within frameless ceramic glass represents stateof- the-art design, but the addition of the “now you see it, now you don’t” burner and pan supports makes this product unique in the true sense of the word. Fisher & Paykel’s Aero™ burners offer sparkless ignition, instantaneous flame, and even heat distribution with the contrast of powerful high settings for wok stir-frying and incredibly low settings that will melt chocolate in a pan placed directly on the gas.

When the cooktop isn’t in use, the burners and supports are hidden beneath. This flat, obstacle-free surface is easily wiped clean. In addition, the pan support pins are also removable for ease of cleaning.

The design of Fisher & Paykel’s new Project Luna cook surface featuring three gas burners is the result of research that showed that at any one time, only 2.1 burners were ever in use. The reduction in burners allows for a streamlined, narrow and strikingly attractive design.
