Dunlop Flooring achieves CRI Green Label accreditation
Saturday 10th November 2007

Dunlop Flooring's range of carpet cushion has recently been accredited by the Carpet and Rug Institute (CRI) in the USA under its Green Label programme for Indoor Air Quality.

According to Wayne Sargood, National Marketing Manager, Dunlop Flooring, this is a landmark achievement for its products as there is currently no recognised ‘green' standard in Australia for floor coverings.

"The demand from specifiers for environmentally sound products is growing exponentially," said Wayne. "Importantly, compliance to the CRI Green Label programme is one of the benchmarks set by the Green Building Council Australia to meet its Green Star rating for office interiors, so it was logical for us as an environmental leader to go offshore and secure this vital accreditation."

The Green Star environmental rating system for buildings has been established by the Green Building Council Australia to recognise environmental leadership in the property industry and promote the adoption of green building practices.

As Wayne explains: "The selection of low-emitting interior products is an important contributor to improving the health of our indoor environment. The CRI Green Label programme identifies products that meet scientifically established standards on indoor air quality and the emission of volatile organic compounds (VOC's)."

Specifically, the CRI Green Label programme has tested and certified Dunlop Carpet Cushion for compliance on the emission of total volatile organic compounds, BHT (butylated hydroxytoluene), formaldehyde and 4-PC (4-phenylcyclohexene).

Wayne added: "Specifiers can now recommend Dunlop Carpet Cushion with the confidence that it's backed by the industry's highest accepted testing standards."
