DALSOUPLE RUBBER FLOORING
Ecology :
Summary |
|
We believe we are the only natural rubber floor company in Australia. With sustainability high on the agenda in Australia, we have the market edge with having high sustainable qualities. We have Australian certified testing conducted by CETEC Melbourne laboratories that verify DalNaturel as having very low VOC rating. We are in the middle of GECA testing and slip and fire resistance testings to meet Australian standards. Scuffing issues have been resolved by using Beckathane from Bostik. We have a 10 year guarantee from Bostik.
DalNaturel sequesters 7.5kg of CO² from the atmosphere for every 1m². A rubber tree grows up to about 25 metres in height and lives for 30 years. Plantation trees are planted to a density of up to 500 trees per hectare. A hectare of rubber trees can produce 800m² of DalNaturel per year, or 2.2m² per day. At the end of their life, old trees are used for high quality wood used for construction, furniture and luxury goods.
Our recycled rubber tiles are 100% recycled rubber and are interlocking so they don't require adhesives.
Dalsouple plans to develop the first ever "fair trading" rubber flooring. At Dalsouple we use the Triple Bottom line principal. We consider the natural processes involved in the final product, it sustains local cultures and ecologies. Rubber production employs over 20 million people worldwide. By developing links with specific plantations, incomes and facilities such as housing, healthcare and education needs will be met.
Rubber is also easy to recycle, not just once but several times.
Dalsouple Australasia is a Carbon Positive Company. We are in the process of working out how to offset our carbon emmissions produced by importing by planting trees for every shipment.
Greenpeace report
"Alternatives to PVC flooring are easy to find, are competitively priced and perform as well, if not better than PVC........... Particularly in situations such as airports or sports stadiums where floor coverings have to meet great demands in durability, rubber floor coverings have proven effective." Building for the future - a guide to building without PVC, Greenpeace 1996.
