Tactile ground surface indicators: talking undulating surfaces and the Matrix

It is important when a surface is undulated that you choose a Tactile Indicator carefully. The AS/NZS4586 2002 stipulates that Tactiles must be 50mm apart from the centre of the Tactile. Often when laying an Integrated Tactile the grouting between the Tactile causes the 50mm measurement to become 51mm. With the Discreet Tactile however this does not happen, or rather should not happen.
DTAC use a specially created Matrix that keeps the Discreet Tactiles exactly 50mm apart and therefore compliant with the AS/NZS4586 2002. Undulating surfaces & curves can seem complicated but really are quite simple. Just remember you need to stay 50mm apart from the centre of each tactile and 300mm back from the start of the end of a curved stairway. The measurement is taken from the extremity of the curve. DTAC are specialists in the Tactile business and have expert consultants and installers on staff that deals with these issues on a daily basis.
