Suggested Specification:

The electrical contractor shall allow to supply and install an Electraplan Model No...................... (eg: FFOB-520) Flush Floor Outlet Box from Cableduct Systems where detailed on the drawings and as described below.

The flush floor outlet box lid and frame shall be precision moulded from polyamide with a cover size of .....................................(eg: 260x160mm) and feature a .............. (eg: 3mm) steel plate at the base of an ...................... (eg: 8mm) rebate to accept floor covering.

Floor boxes are to be conduit fed and house two outlet plates as detailed on the drawings. Outlets shall be standard size and of a type as nominated by this document. Blank plates shall be fitted to any unused outlet positions. Conduit size and type shall be as detailed on the drawings.

The steel floor box housing is to be positioned to finish flush and level with the final slab surface and secured to prevent movement within screed/structural slab during concrete pour. A temporary cover shall be fitted over the steel box body during the construction period to prevent damage to the unit prior to the installation of floor coverings.

The floor box cover is to be installed after the floor coverings have been laid.

The electrical contractor is to liaise with the floor covering contractor to have the floor covering accurately cut and fitted within the floor box cover rebate. Where the floor covering is less than 8mm thick it should be packed out so as to finish level with the top of the floor box lid.

The system shall be earthed in accordance with AS 3000 wiring rules and conform to Austel requirements. Installation shall be performed by qualified and experienced tradesmen in a first class manner generally as described in Cableduct Systems ‘520 General Guide to Installation’.
