D-Stud

Shelf load test in progress, supporting 200kg load.
Extensive testing has been carried out on the safe shelf loading capacity of the D-Stud System.
Refer to Boral Plasterboard for further details.
Boral Plasterboard is manufactured to the requirements of Australian Standard AS 2588-1983 - “Gypsum Plasterboard”. It must be installed in accordance with the requirements of Australian Standard AS/NZS 2589.1:1997 - “Gypsum linings in residential and light commercial construction - Application and Finishing.” Structural, fire and acoustic certification of this system applies only where the plasterboard used is manufactured by Boral Australian Gypsum Limited.

Structural testing was carried out at the NATA registered laboratories of Boral Plasterboard at Port Melbourne and VIPAC laboratories in Port Melbourne. Taylor Thomson Whitting carried out the structural appraisal of the system.

Acoustic testing was carried out at the acoustic laboratories of CSIRO, RMIT and the National Acoustic Laboratories in Sydney. Graeme E. Harding and Associates Pty Ltd carried out acoustic variation appraisals.

Fire testing and assessment has been carried out by CSIRO, Division of Building, Construction and Engineering to Australian Standard AS 1530, Part 4- 1997 and British Standard BS 476, Part 20.

Notes:

  1. The wall cavity was maintained at 370mm for each test. Two (2) layers of 14kg/m3 polyester insulation was placed within the cavity.
  2. Design objective noise reduction to be achieved between cinemas in the "fitted-out" condition as stipulated by Watson Moss Growcott acoustics Pty. Ltd.
