Installation

Fastening sheets to supports
CUSTOM ORB® should be installed using screws of the types and sizes shown in the table below.

You can place screws for CUSTOM ORB® through the crests or in the valleys. Roof screws should be placed through crests to maximise watertightness. For walling, you may use either crest- or valley-fixing.

Screws should be driven perpendicular to the sheeting, and in the centre of the corrugation or rib.

Fasteners should not be placed less than 25 mm from the ends of sheets.

Key:
† Fasteners per sheet per support (Number of fasteners depends on wind pressure)
s = Side lap

Side-laps
CUSTOM ORB® is overlapped at the sides not less than 1.5 corrugations. It is considered good practice to use fasteners along side laps, however when cladding is supported as indicated in maximum support spacings, side lap fasteners are usually not needed.

End Lapping
End laps are usually not necessary as CUSTOM ORB® is available in long lengths. If end laps are used, sheets should be laid from gutter to ridge.

For roofs, allow a minimum end lap of 200 mm between 5° and 15° pitch and 150 mm above 15°. For walls allow a minimum end lap of 100 mm.

Where end lapping of CUSTOM ORB® and LYSAGHT CUSTOM BLUE ORB® is intended, they should be ordered together to ensure a good fit.

Ends of sheets
It is usual to allow roof sheets to overlap into gutters by about 50 mm. The valleys of sheets at gutter ends and ridge ends should be turned-down and turned-up respectively.

Laying Procedure
We recommend you start laying sheets from the end of the building that will be in the lee of the worst anticipated or prevailing weather.
