- FOAMULAR-METRIC is practical for all buildings having normal temperature conditions but should not be used in contact with chimneys, heater vents, steam pipes or other surfaces where temperatures exceed 65°C. It is not recommended for applications where sustained temperatures exceed 75°C.
- Caution: Combustible. FOAMULAR-METRIC will ignite if exposed to fire of sufficient heat and intensity, although it does contain a flame-retardant additive to inhibit ignition from small fire sources. This product should be installed only with a thermal barrier such as 12mm thick gypsum board on the interior side of the wall. During shipping, storage, installation and use, this product should not be exposed to open flame or ignition sources.
- All constructions should be evaluated for necessity of providing vapour retarders to avoid condensation and subsequent damage to the structure (see current ASHRAE Handbook of Fundamentals).
For maximum protection, a vapour barrier of 0.05 metric perm rating, 0.10 mm polyethylene film, is recommended. For areas of moderate climatic conditions, adequate protection can be provided by 0.05 mm polyethylene film, aluminium foil-backed gypsum boards, asphalt-coated kraft paper or vapour retarder type prime-coat paints.
Exterior wails of high-moisture areas, such as bathrooms, kitchens, and laundry rooms should have vapour retarders applied to inside surfaces of wall panels, and mechanical ventilation provided to remove excessive moisture.
- In residential and commercial buildings, most. codes require a 15-minute thermal barrier, such as 12mm gypsum panels, to cover the FOAMULAR-METRIC insulation when used on the interior wallface in an occupied area. This requirement may also include application in garages, attic spaces, plenums, basement walls, and crawl spaces.
- FOAMULAR-METRIC is a non-structural material, and must be installed on framings that are independently structurally adequate to meet required construction and service loading conditions.
- Provisions should be made to protect the insulation from excessive exposure to direct sunlight by covering over the insulation as soon as possible.
